IMPORTANT NOTE FOR EARLY ACCESS MAC AU USERS
The 1.1.0 update unfortunately affects recall of sessions made using the v1.0 AU on the Mac (there is a solution, see below!). All other plug-in formats on Mac or Windows are unaffected. What happens is that the DAW doesn't see the v1.1.0 AU as the same plugin, so sessions would load with all instances of PUNCH AU 1.0.0 reported as missing.
As a solution, the v1.1.0 installer includes a special migration version of the plugin, that *is* seen as the same as the Early Access AU by the DAW, so that your sessions will open and play back correctly. You can then copy and paste settings between the migration version and a regular v1.1.0 instance (using our built-in preset manager's copy/paste function), then re-save your project.
Change Log
Version 1.1.0, January 15th, 2025:
Official release version. Version 1.1.0 is a recommended update for all users.
Whats new in v1.1.0:
- Official Release!
- New SUB BOOST and AIR BOOST parameters, which allow applying up to +12 dB of gain to the audio beneath or above the frequency range that the PUNCH processing applies to.
- New post-CLIPPER manual gain compensation function, consisting of a COMPENSATION GAIN control, and a toggle switch to enable/disable it.
- Improved CPU usage for SMOOTH mode.
- Added support for MIDI control of the Load/Save/Next/Previous Preset functions.
- Added support for automatic High DPI Scaling on Windows.
- Bumped up the font size for parameter labels for better legibility.
- Fixed an issue that caused MIDI controllers to not be received in the AU plugin. This fix breaks recall of sessions created with the v1.0.0 Early Access AU!
- Fixed an issue that caused 5 samples of uncompensated latency. Plugin latency is now always 5 samples, and these are correctly compensated for.
- Fixed an issue that could cause Pro Tools to not offer the Plug-In for track widths greater than 7.1.
- Fixed an issue that could cause zipper noise when moving BIAS sliders and/or switching BIAS presets in SMOOTH mode.
- Fixed an issue that caused the preset to not appear dirty (edited) when changing only the selected BIAS preset.
Version 1.0.0, December 23rd, 2024:
- Initial Early Access release for PUNCH
v1.0.0 Early Access known issues (27-12-24):
- MIDI remote for Load/Save/Next/Previous Preset is not yet implemented FIXED in v1.1.0
- SMOOTH CLIPPER introduces 16 samples of un-compensated latency even if not in use. FIXED in 1.1.0 - it was actually 5 samples.
- Some users have reported formats above 7.1 not appearing in current Pro Tools. FIXED in 1.1.0
- Unconfirmed reports of the VST 3 being displayed as AU in some DAWs. Not the case ? in these cases, the DAW is using automatic Intel bridging and showing both the Apple Silicon Native as well as the Intel version contained in the Universal Binary.
